The Balearics – a reason to visit the MedditerranianThe Dunkel husbands log offers a clear insight into the splendor of the western Mediterranean islands, the Balearics. Their tone and enthusiasm in the description of the scenarios there are as full of enjoyment as the Mediterranean sky is. Their sailing yacht, a classical First 51 Isicia II took them for the past six weeks all around the eye-caching islands of Ibiza, Formentera and Mallorca. Their large boat offered the couple and their crew to both sail around the sun-bathed islands and to occasionally stop when in need of getting a taste of the local holyday spots and their delights. Vicky and Andi Dunkel left the far away Scotland to get a glimpse of the warmer and clearer waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Sailing along the Balearics made up their summer tour. The first element which decides whether a trip is enjoyable or despicable is the weather. In this sense, the conditions near these Spanish islands were positive. The winds were blowing in such a way that the atmosphere remained calm, though they made shore that the heat didn’t get too intense. The island of Ibiza, a trading spot in the ways of the commercial roots since the days of the Phoenicians, also renowned for its tourists with a libertine life stile offered surprising many anchorage spots in the midst of a silent atmosphere, as did the other two islands as well. Ibiza showed it’s beauties to the Dunkels, such as the old town, near Ibiza Town and the Clot d’es Llamp, with its sheer cliffs and interesting rock formations. The local wildlife showed off for the yacht’s crew near Formentera as dolphins swam along the vehicle. The sea water unveiled it’s most elegant color, a turquoise pattern, near Esplanador, on the same island. The Formentera offered ultramodern bars to the visitors. Due to its large size, Mallorca displays an entire list of sights. The landscape is quite rocky and in many spots around the seashore there are abrupt cliffs or high rocks which peer out of the blue waters. The sharp cliffs may also be seen on the island of Dragonera, located to the west of great Mallorca. The large island’s geographical features are amazing, as tall mountain-like formations stare at the visitors stare to the visitors passing near its coast. The Balearics are mostly like rocks emerging from the sea, their relief is irregular and abrupt, high altitudes may start right next to the sea shore. The tiny Formentara alone presented alone presented a flat, unperturbed landscape, with a sandy beach with seemingly no limits. The Dunkels shall not put an end to their maritime voyage with this promenade among Spain’s Mediterranean island paradise. This autumn they shall sail north to Barcelona, situated on Spain’s Costa Brava, than along the famed French Riviera. May the sun bless them with warmth all this time! |
